Mr. Chaikin joined Ramius in January 2005.  From January 2001 to December 2004, Mr. Chaikin was an Associate and Investment Professional at MMC Capital, Inc., a global  private equity firm with over $3 billion in assets under management.  At MMC Capital, Mr. Chaikin was responsible for finding and overseeing investment opportunities in the insurance and financial services industries.  From October 1998 to December 2000, Mr. Chaikin was a Corporate Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where he specialized in mergers, acquisitions and securities.  Mr. Chaikin received a B.S. in Economics magna cum laude from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1995, where he was a Joseph Wharton Scholar, and a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1998, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Mr. Chaikin currently serves on the Board of Directors of several private companies and also serves on the Board of Trustees of the YAI Network.
